The bikes in GTA games have always been my favorites especially in GTA:SA when you max out cycling and can do insane shit on the BMX bike like jumping off of huge structures. I don't think these were intentional features but they're fun aspects of the better side of the Rd online community. Trail hikes from one part of the map to the other or like the soup walks challenge (make bowl of soup in one corner of the map and walk with it all the way to another, whoever spills their soup gets eliminated). While hiking in GTA or RDR is not really a "feature" in the single player, there is this big community of passive players in Red Dead Online who do exactly that. The game did have outdoor activities like the marathon races and so on, but they weren't really discrete activities you could chose to do just more or less a silly one off annoying mission for completionists. The snippet from the OP is just typical bull shit theory from the thousand dumbass gaming hype websites that overreact to this.
